Introduction: – The digital India project was launched by prime minister Narendra Modi on1st of July in 2015.It is an effective scheme to transform India for better growth and development of people and country. The objective was to make government services easily available to the citizens electronically by improving its online infrastructure all over the country.
- Inauguration of the mission: – Digital India week starts from 1st July to 7th July and it was inaugurated by the prime minister. It aims to give India a digital push for good governance and more jobs.
- Broadband highways in cities: – The digital India campaign opens access to broadband highways in all cities, towns and villages and will make possible the availability of world-class services at the click of the mouse.
- Public Internet Access Programmer: – The two subcomponents of Public Internet Access Programmer are Common Services Centers (CSCs) and Post Offices as multi-service centers.
Benefits of digital India: –
1.Large scale development of Wi-Fi hotspots has been planned by the BSNL all access the country. There is a plan of outsourcing policy which help India to become digital.
Also, Bharat Net programme will connect almost 25000-gram panchayats of the country.
2 With the initiative of Digital India, there have been numerous ways to enhance job opportunities in new markets as well as increasing employment opportunities in existing markets, new markets have started hiring people, thus increasing the employment rate.
3.The digital village area was created with well-equipped facilities like solar lighting, LED assembly unit, sanitary napkin production unit and Wi-Fi. Internet data is a major tool for making the delivery of services and the urban internet penetration. It has reached 64% almost. Presently, the number of daily active internet users has crossed 300 million from 10-15 million.
4.E-governance is beneficial for all the citizens, like it is quicker, faster, and safer when compared to traditional governance, with the help of e-governance, you can now get anything from birth certificate to death certificate immediately.
5. Through computer and Internet access, the CSCs present multimedia content related to various fields, namely education, e-governance, health, telemedicine, entertainment and other government and private services.
